Our story
Our Story
The Afghan Sports Federation was founded in 1998 by a group of passionate Afghan Americans in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. What began as an informal soccer league among friends grew into a structured federation representing thousands of Afghans across the United States and beyond. Over 26 years we have organized 28 Afghan Cup tournaments, launched programs in five different sports, and created a community that transcends borders. Our members include first-generation immigrants, second-generation Afghan Americans, and Afghan nationals who share one thing in common: a love of sport and a pride in their heritage.
To establish an Afghan sports body worldwide, participate in the Olympic Games representing the global Afghan diaspora, and build ASF sports facilities and community centers across the United States and beyond.
